One of the best things about staying at a bed and breakfast is well, their breakfast of course! Each bed and breakfast has their different breakfast menus, depending on the location and what their typical meals are like. What you might not have known is that a lot of bed and breakfast inns use fresh ingredients for their breakfast recipes. Here are three breakfast recipes that you can recreate using fresh ingredients.

Quiche – This meal is common for bed and breakfasts to serve. This recipe from food.com can easily be made with fresh vegetables and real eggs to make a delicious fresh bake.

Ingredients: 5 eggs, 3/4 cup milk, 1 frozen pie shell, 2 cups of shredded cheese, 2 cups of fresh vegetables of your choice (like spinach), and 2 cups of chopped breakfast sausages.

Directions: 1) Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2) Get a large bowl and beat the eggs into them. 3) Add the vegetables, sausages, and milk. 4) Place the frozen pie crust in a pie pan. 5) Pour the mixture over the pie crust and top it with cheese. 6) Place pan inside of the oven and let it cook for 45 minutes. Leave it in there longer if the top isn’t brown. 7) After taking out of the oven, let it sit for a while before cutting and serving.

French Toast – This is another common meal that is served at bed and breakfasts. Use fresh fruit for the toppings and fresh eggs for the french toast batter. Here is a modified version of McCormick’s french toast recipe.

Ingredients: Texas toast, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, 1/4 cup of milk, and 1/4 cup of karo light corn syrup.

Directions: 1) Mix the eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and the corn syrup into one bowl, then add the milk after everything is mixed. 2) Submerge the bread into the mixture allowing it to soak it up, and flipping both sides. 3) Thoroughly cook the bread on a griddle and serve with fresh fruit on top.

Breakfast Casserole – This is another common breakfast recipe that is a crowd pleaser. Including fresh vegetables and fresh eggs in this will make this course delicious! Check out this recipe from this blog. Here is a modified version.

Ingredients: 6 cups of chopped bread, 4.5 ounces of fresh green chiles, 10 ounces of cubed ham, 1 cup of shredded cheese, 6 fresh eggs, 2 cups of milk, 1 tablespoon of spicy brown mustard, and a little bit of salt and pepper.

Directions: 1) Spray the 9 by 13 inch pan with Pam. 2) Mix the bread, green chiles, ham, and cheddar cheese and pour it into the pan. Then, whisk the eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper, and pour that mixture on top of the one already in the pan. 3) Refrigerate overnight. 4) The next day, bake it for about an hour at 300 degrees temperature.
