How can one ensure that what they are eating is fresh? If the food being served is farm-to-table, of course! Farm-to-table, or farm-to-fork, means that the food you are eating came straight from a farm. No shipping or distribution is involved in the concept of farm-to-table. The concept of farm-to-table is used in a lot of restaurants, leaving guests pleased with the freshness of their meals. Here are a few restaurants in the Berkshires that offer their hungry guests farm-to-table dishes.

Cafe Lucia – Cafe Lucia just reopened this May with a new indoor bar. They still have their seasonal Italian farm-to-table menu. Some fresh dishes on their menu include arugula and reggiano parmesan, vegetarian spring vegetable risotto, grilled Colorado loin lamb chops and creekstone farm natural prime sirloin strip. Cafe Lucia also serves delectable wine.

Allium Restaurant + Bar – This restaurant supports the neighboring family farms in the Berkshires with farm-fresh ingredients. They have seasonal menus that showcase what farm-fresh products are in season. Other than their farm menu, they also serve contemporary American cuisine. Allium Restaurant + Bar has received many awards and kind words from official press like The New York Times and Boston Globe Magazine.

Mezze Bistro + Bar – At Mezze Bistro + Bar, they serve fresh local and seasonal ingredients such as produce, meat, bread and cheese in the likes of American cuisine. While choosing sustainable dishes to serve, their building was also built in a sustainable way from the paint to the panels. Their menu changes every day depending on what is available at the local farms.

Castle Street Cafe – At Castle Street Cafe, the chef believes in farm-to-table cooking, and he’s received many positive reviews on his delicious dishes created from farm fresh goods. An interesting thing that I noticed on the menu is that even their meat is natural and grass fed. Another special thing about this cafe is that every Friday and Saturday, there is live jazz.

Gala Restaurant & Bar – At the Gala Restaurant & Bar, they serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with fresh farm ingredients. On their menu, they list which farm the fresh ingredients needed to create the dish come from. This award winning restaurant has guests leaving satisfied after being full from comfort styled dishes.

Well Restaurant + Bar – At this family owned and operated restaurant, they serve housemade dishes with locally grass fed meats. They serve anything you could imagine at an average restaurant, just fresher! They also specialize in serving craft beer as well. Check out the rest of their menu here.

John Andrews Farmhouse Restaurant – Guests of this restaurant can tell by the name that they will be receiving fresh ingredients in their meals. This restaurant serving American cuisine has received a lot of praise and has been recognized all over the world for its excellent dishes. A unique thing that this restaurant does is highlight a farm that they receive produce from on their summer time menu.
