Different Types of Forklifts
Yes, that is right, there are different kinds of forklifts. All different kinds of jobs call for the right kind of machinery to get the job done. Here we have a list of the different kinds of forklifts and which jobs or situations they are best fit for:
Industrial Reach Forklift: These are known for their extended lift height. This makes them ideal for warehousing jobs. The different types of reach forklifts are stand-up trucks, allowing workers to transport heavy loads safely, or double-deep trucks, with longer forks better used for multiple pallet loads.
Industrial Counterbalance Forklifts: These are the most common forklifts used in indoor warehouses. They can be used outdoors as long as they are on stable, even surfaces. These also have dual forks and they allow for straightforward operation. There are different kinds of counterbalance forklifts as well. There are three-wheeled and four-wheeled ones, however, the three-wheeled ones allow for better maneuverability.
Rough Terrain Forklifts: These are more commonly used outdoors as they have the ability to maintain balance on relatively uneven surfaces. These also have a more powerful engine allowing them to reach high speeds, making them more robust and durable. Their look is slightly different as this one has a bucket in front instead of the forks, but this allows the machine to carry much heavier loads.
Industrial Side Loader Forklifts: These are ideally suited to working in narrow aisles. This is because the forklift is attached to a truck with a long bed, allowing it to carry long, narrow loads that would be hard to handle with a straightforward forklift.
Telescopic Handler Forklifts: These are ideal for use in agriculture and all kinds of industries that require high lifting. They offer a whole range of different features that make the machine very versatile and uniquely qualified for a wide range of difficult jobs.
Pedestrian Operated Pallet Trucks: Theses are more commonly used in small warehouses, with lower storage and easy to lift pallets. More used to assist with lifting relativity heavy items and transport them safely.
There is a wide range of forklifts for a wide range of uses. Each forklift has its benefits and its limits. It is extremely important to not overload the front of your forklift as this can cause the forklift to tip forward if not properly counterbalanced.
